IPL Photofacial uses broad-spectrum, high-intensity pulses of light to target and correct a range of skin concerns that affect your complexion's clarity and evenness. The light energy penetrates the skin and is selectively absorbed by pigmented lesions like sun spots, age spots, and freckles, as well as by the hemoglobin in visible blood vessels and areas of redness. This selective absorption causes the targeted imperfections to break down and be naturally processed by your body, while leaving the surrounding healthy skin untouched. Sun spots and age spots typically darken temporarily after treatment before naturally flaking off over seven to fourteen days, revealing clearer, more even-toned skin beneath. For patients with rosacea or generalized redness, IPL is one of the most effective treatments available — reducing visible blood vessels and calming persistent flushing. As an added benefit, the light energy also stimulates collagen production, improving skin firmness and texture over time. Most patients achieve their best results after a series of three to five sessions, spaced three to four weeks apart.
